  • A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity: “iMagz – Making Myself Heard”

Ms Christine E. Cabato,, Student at Davao City National High School
    April 2014, Davao, Philippines

The ASEF ClassNet Online Collaboration “iMagz – Making Myself Heard” is about creating a magazine which where you can write articles and post photos on any topics in our own way. The members of the said collaboration are students. I am one of those students. As a part of this Online Collaboration, I have learned lots of things which helped me to express myself in a better way. I once did post an article in the previous local issue in Philippines, “Reproductive Health Bill” which is a law now. I was able to write there about what is my opinion about the issue. I was also able to read others articles, poems, and stories. There, I saw how creative and imaginative the youths are today. I also met new friends not just from my country, not just from Asia, but also in Europe.

  • 1st International Symposium for Teachers and Students on Butterflies in Science and Arts

Ms Anjali Handa, Global Co-ordinator at St. Mark's Girls Senior Secondary School, Meera Bagh
    June 2015, New Delhi, India

St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School participated in the Butterfly Symposium held in Villach, Austria from 13-20 June 2015. It was organised by Mr Edmund Huditz* , a teacher of the host school, Peraugymnasium Villach. Four students accompanied by a Biology teacher were invited to attend the symposium. It was a great learning experience as our students started to take initiatives in developing the Butterfly Garden in the school as well as conducting intensive search on butterflies and their host plants, in preparation for the symposium. During the symposium, the participants not only learnt a great deal about the local butterflies of Villach but also about Austrian culture and lifestyle. Our students have had the opportunity to showcase their talents at an international platform and met many teachers and students from the other countries. The symposium represented a rainbow of cultures.

To achieve this very end, a group comprising 10 students from St. Mark’s Girls Senior Secondary School, New Delhi, India and their two teachers, Ms Anjali HANDA and Ms Shruti SHARMA, embarked on a student exchange programme across Malaysia, visiting Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor and Sekolah Menengah Sains Seri Puteri (Kuala Lumpur), Sekolah Menengah Sains Muzaffar Syah (Melaka), Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Ahmad Shah (Pahang) and Sekolah Menengah Sains Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra (Kelantan).
