Description

The technology of augmented reality is a fairly new concept in the world of smartphones and has far-reaching capacities in terms of enhancing creators’ (in this case – the students) knowledge, awareness and skills. Augmented reality is a live view of a real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory inputs such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. This project aimed to achieve augmented reality through the creation of online interactive multisensory brochures where students could be involved in the task of designing itineraries focused on the historical and environmental heritage of their own countries. The project launching phase was devoted to socialization through the social network and to researching the most relevant aspects of students’ countries or local areas. Students also explored those features of historical heritage which are not famous or celebrated: as such, intriguing treasure hunts, riddles and problem solving were also designed as part of the tourist itineraries.
