Cultural Lessons Exemplars (CELEX)

This was a collaborative teaching strategy for teachers in Social Studies, Music, Arts, and Humanities, wherein lessons on the eminent culture in the home school, and the community where students live, were integrated in one theme. The teachers held a meeting to make a plan of different activities, which would enhance creative and critical thinking, communicating, producing and participating. Once the potentially complex performances had been identified, developmentally appropriate “Performance Indicators” were defined for each level.
