Description |
Groups of 6-8 students from at least two AEC schools arranged a period of virtual homestay with a focus on food taboos. The host (3-4 students from one school) provided information on the different food taboos existing in their country. After the exchange of information, the host selected a particular food taboo to adopt, and practised the adopted food taboo for 3 days. During the 3 days, the participants were required to keep a diary and reflection log to record their lifestyle changes and any possible emotional ups and downs. Upon experiencing the lifestyle of adopting the chosen food taboo, the participants were then able to understand better the physical, mental and emotional changes that their overseas partners live with. The participants finally developed a mock dish of the forbidden food for their overseas partners in order for them to attempt to prepare the dish. |
