Ensuring gender equality is crucial for building peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable societies. Teachers play an important role in attaining gender equality by creating a learning environment where students, regardless of orientation and background, are provided with equal access to education. The 2021 ASEFClassNet School Collaboration project “Capacity Building on Education and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) – Gender Equality and the SDGs” engages teachers from secondary & vocational schools from ASEM Countries in a virtual peer-peer collaborative platform to discuss gender equality from diverse cultural perspectives. The project highlights three dimensions of gender equality in the secondary school context: 1) Teaching, 2) Teachers as part of the workplace and 3) Teachers themselves.
