Literary Corner

“Literary Corner” was a project that required students to write poems, short stories or even dialogues or plays based on given themes. Other students were able to comment on the writing or ask questions. This project allowed students to express themselves in short stories, poems, plays etc. given certain themes throughout the project timeline. With guidance from their teachers and from the works of other student participants, they developed their writing skills. The students were expected to critique the work of other students; even if only to say that they enjoyed reading the piece of writing as it caught their interest. Students learnt more about the different cultures of the participants from their writing. They also had an opportunity to question the ‘writer’ about his/her subject matter; in this way, communication was encouraged. Ultimately, the aim was to have an online publication which could be printed out by schools if they wished or just read online for pleasure.
