This project allowed the students to compare reality shows in Asia and Europe and try to give an account of the reaction to the shows in their respective countries. By analyzing global TV format together, the students were able to see the power of the mass media in selling entertainment based on one single idea. The students were also able to find out the reasons why some people want to participate in these shows. The project explored what kind of impression the participants gave about the culture in question, and whether there were universal patterns of behavior’s. The project focused on the dynamics between the (media) production, the participants and the audience in the modern media environment, as well as the concepts of morality, scandal or hype. |
