Description |
This project was aimed to raise the awareness of Global Citizenship by building a communicative, digital global course together. In this learning environment, teachers created ‘learning objects’ and pupils researched different icons of heritage, habitat and homes of their national canon (‘diversity’), and consequently developed a global canon (‘unity’). The project had a cross-curriculum approach: English, choice of 1 other language, Geography, Historical Heritage, Civics, Ecology, ICT. The project group established and evaluated a database of the ‘learning objects’ based on 4 levels for pupils aged 11-18: knowledge, competence and attitude on Global Citizenship. It sought to link Global Citizenship to these levels. The main theme was ‘Meeting the Important Other’. Metadata for the ‘learning objects’ was the real-life ever-growing scale in which a child grows up: from family values, to neighborhood, class, school, community, region, nation, and finally the world. The teachers, together with the pupils, explored new interactive activities, like digital debating, video-conferencing, and online role play in the classroom. |
