Description |
Historically, the Silk Road passed through many countries which are often well-known for their geographical features and their historical background. Those travelling the route could experience hardship. By staying in foreign countries and by buying and selling goods, the travellers experienced new things – for example, foreign people, foreign languages, unknown fabrics, unknown food etc.- and the local people experienced unknown things as well. The Silk Road was a dynamic meeting place where the West and the East met. Through this project the students learnt facts about foreign countries, and learnt that staying in a foreign country means experiencing and respecting a foreign culture. They learnt that for centuries different countries and people have influenced each other. Methods for this project included descriptions, maps, fictional diaries, dialogues and letters. |
