Story

Sharing, connecting, linking… That’s what contemporary society is all about and that’s what youngsters are particularly attracted by.
This is why our way of teaching has to change. Organizing our activity around direct lessons in class behind a teachers’ desk cannot be the only way. We have to focus our attention on strategies which lead the group to learning through activities proposed in their language, the language of digital natives.

This is where international projects act not only as a useful tool, but also as a precious mean of interaction with a young population who, despite the great possibilities the internet gives, lacks powerful communication, links that have a ‘meaning’ with people of their own age and with adults.

ASEF ClassNet Online Collaborations are the key. Connecting teachers and students for a common purpose, they manage to activate their attention. It is a ‘way of teaching’ through ICT which educators can use as a powerful tool enabling them to implement their expertise in didactic innovation. The creative part also stands in selecting a variety of subjects that interest students motivating them to use both ICT and many other languages as the vehicular means of interaction.

The most relevant aspect, though, is enlarging their geographic and cultural horizons that deepen their attitude to the observation of what is different, thus having the chance to absorb and give with the aid of a common platform which enables them to interact in awareness.

Teachers like me professionally ‘live’ not just to promote ASEF ClassNet Online Collaborations as such, but to enhance their meaning by making it possible for educators and youngsters of different continents to mingle and work through it in an atmosphere of creativity and technological freedom.
I think we are managing to reinforce the growth of this cultural seed which has already shown its strength and vivacious power. Naturally it still needs more and more boosting initiatives and it is necessary to keep promoting collaboration at all latitudes.

I deeply believe in it and hope you will too! 🙂
