Title Celebrating Students’ Achievements in Ireland
Author

Ms Adrienne Webb/ICT Co-ordinator at St. Michael's Holy Faith Secondary School

Date June 2011
Venue Ireland
Story

Each year just before we go on summer holidays, the school hosts an awards ceremony. All students, along with parents of those receiving awards and their teachers attend in the sports hall.

This is quite a crowd as there are over 500 students attend the school. Traditional African drumming opens the proceedings amid an air of excitement and anticipation. Students are called by name and presented with certificates stating what the award is for.

Over 300 certificates were awarded this year with some students receiving more than one. After the school certificates have been handed out, those which have been awarded by outside agencies are presented. 2011 was no different. It was with great pleasure that I got the opportunity to tell those gathered about the ASEF Classroom Network. This year was special as the WHAZZUP? Online Collaboration had won one of the top three awards at the annual conference at St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School in Gurgaon, NCR of Delhi, India.

It is wonderful to see how the internet facilitates projects across the globe which would have been unimaginable in times past. St. Michael’s Secondary School looks forward to continuing participation in the ASEF Classroom Network in the future.
