Story |
In March 2014, we brought a delegation of 4 teachers and 24 students to Ivanka pri Dunaji (Slovakia). This exchange programme is a spin-off activity from the bilateral Online Collaboration organised between our school and Spojena skola titled “Mountainous Routes: A different Approach into Experiential Learning and Interactive Knowledge”. A highlight of this Online Collaboration includes the exchange of ideas, opinions and experiences in both Greece and Slovakia. The exchange programme was made possible with the coordination of Mr Pavol Trubac, a Teacher of Spojena skola. During the trip, we visited the dogs training centre, horse riding fields, fish farms as well as other several activities. The students from both schools presented their Online Collaboration tasks and videos they prepared for the environmental programme they worked for the past months. They also visited traditional villages, the Schaubmar Old Mill, where a paint exhibition was organised during that time. Our students also had the opportunity to take part in a traditional pottery workshop where they created their own pots and brought it back to Greece. The students also visited the Red Stone Castle and areas of great historical interest and importance. They spent a day in the beautiful capital of Slovakia, Bratislava and they had the honour to meet the Mayor, Mrs Holcingerova at the Town Hall of Ivanka who welcomed the delegation with a warm salutation. One of the most important and impressive activity they all had was the mountain hiking to Small Carpathians, which was an exceptional experience for all the Greek delegation. Bonding between the Greeks and Slovakian delegations were established within the short visit. We returned home with richer experiences, getting to know their education system and their way of living of the human kind in another European country. A reciprocate visit by the Slovakian school to Greece is planned to take place in December 2014. |
