Story |
I first engaged in the ASEF ClassNet Online Collaboration when I was a first-year student in my senior high school. Working with others on the Internet in English has been instructive, and has improved my language skills significantly. I have also learned things about different cultures that I never knew before. What’s more, during the Online Collaboration I have also acquired new ICT skills. All in all, though, the best experience in this Online Collaboration must have been having new friends and learning so much more than I would have ever expected. Learning by talking with other students, for example from Singapore, is more fun than just listening to a teacher talk. With the ASEF ClassNet Online Collaboration, this is possible. It also brings change to ordinary school lessons, which is very motivating. I was lucky to have the amazing opportunity to go to the 9th ASEF Classroom Network (ASEF ClassNet) Conference in India with my teachers. It was marvellous how quickly I made new friends and spoke English better. I even thought in English instead of my native language Finnish. We students formed our own group and we spent most of the time with each other. This was unforgettable. I enjoyed meeting new, friendly and smiling faces from all over Europe and Asia. The atmosphere was encouraging and supportive, which made it easy and wonderful to work there. If I ever had a new chance to do it all again, I would definitely attend! I still keep in touch with the friends that I made. I truly encourage all students to grab this opportunity! |
